A “National March on Boston,” sponsored by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), is held to commemorate the 21st Anniversary of the Supreme Court Decision banning segregated schools. Police estimated that some 5,000 to 7,000 walked from the Fenway area to the Boston Common, where hundreds more waited.
