Chemistry: Challenges and Solutions

Misconceptions about Chemical Equilibrium (animation)

There are two big misconceptions about chemical equilibrium: one, that in chemical equilibrium there are equal parts reactants and products and, two, that once a chemical reaction reaches equilibrium, the reaction has stopped. But neither is true: an equilibrium reaction is a dynamic process where reactants, in any proportion, are continuously turning into products and vice-versa.
