Chemistry: Challenges and Solutions

The pH Scale (animation)

The pH scale runs from zero to 14, with zero being the most acidic, 14 the most basic and seven neutral. Even in an acidic solution, there is still some amount of hydroxide ion, but it gets less and less as we move down the scale. Similarly, in a basic solution there is still some amount of hydronium, but it get smaller and smaller as we move up the scale. The numbers on the scale are logarithmic.
