Emmy-nominated Social Studies Series Continues to Extend Lessons Learned with Annenberg Learner

July 18th, 2025 – Social Studies, the documentary series by Lauren Greenfield on which Chairman of the Annenberg Foundation Wallis Annenberg is an executive producer, has been nominated for an Emmy in the Documentary/Nonfiction Series category, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced earlier this week.

The Annenberg Foundation supported Greenfield and complemented the streaming series debut with free curriculum and discussion guides for educators and families, released online last September. Since being introduced, hundreds of people have downloaded the curriculum, which remains available at learner.org/socialstudies. 

“Lauren Greenfield’s Social Studies documentary series takes a deep, unfiltered look at the impact of social media on today’s youth and mental health that is critical to combating its potential harms,” said Chairman, President and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation Wallis Annenberg. “We are proud to offer Annenberg Learner content to support educators and parents in talking to teens about difficult topics and situations that surface and can be inflamed online.”

The Emmy awards will be announced in Los Angeles on September 14.
