Social Media and Relationships
Social media has become central in some cases to our relationships, whether they be with family, romantic partners, or friends. It has become an indispensable third party, at times, in creating new relationships in our lives and sustaining old ones. To help understand social media and technology’s role in our social lives, we’re going to examine the sociological concept of “social contexts” (written about extensively by scholar danah boyd), and how social media and privacy both influence our relationships in different ways.
