As social media and the digital world have taken on a more central role in both the spread of hate and the fight against it, an examination of the digital world’s role in the fight for – and how it is used against – social justice is necessary. Digital spaces are the new frontier in the fight for civil rights, and the more we can use these spaces for the collective good, the more progress we’ll make in this fight. First, we need to understand a bit about the digital ecosystem and its problems in this realm in order to fight for social justice effectively in digital and physical spaces. In these lessons, we’ll also look at inspirational stories from those who have used digital environments to fight effectively for social justice, as well as those who have used them to provide critical affirmation of their own identities.
