People have always used their fame to push us to buy things, but social media has made “influencing” a career onto itself. Social media has made “influencers” easily accessible to us 24 hours a day, and lowered the barriers for making content that could reach audiences. However, the life of an influencer is not so easily obtained or sustained. In this section we will get into why social media has made life of an “influencer” so appealing, how “influencers” actually shape our behavior, and what “influencing” is really like according to those that do it for a living.
