Meena Balgopal is an associate professor at Colorado State University in the School of Education. Her teaching areas include science and interdisciplinary teaching methods. Her research focuses on how to increase K–16 students’ scientific literacy. She also presents professional development workshops on science pedagogy, science content, and writing in the sciences.
Jacob Foster is the director of science and technology/engineering at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. He oversees the state’s science and technology/engineering standards and curriculum framework, professional development opportunities, and support for districts. He is also a member of the writing team for the Next Generation Science Standards.
Maria Grant is a professor in the Department of Secondary Education at California State University in Fullerton, where she teaches pedagogy sources and science methods. Her research interests include literacy integration in the content areas, informal learning environments, and science education. She has taught physics, oceanography, earth science, and chemistry.
P. David Pearson is a professor of language and literacy education at the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he served as dean for 10 years. He is currently involved in a research and development project in which reading, writing, and language are used to foster science knowledge and inquiry.
