Welcome to The Missing Link, an
eight-part professional development workshop series for middle
school math teachers.
TIMSS (the Third International Mathematics and Science
Study) identified the challenge: Many American middle school
students are not learning the math that will help them succeed
in the 21st century. The Missing Link is designed to help
close the gap between where we are and where we need to
be in two ways:
by helping middle school math teachers
better understand the content of four important topics
that are too rarely taught to American middle school students
by helping teachers improve their instruction
through engaging problems that involve students in their
own learning.
