1. Peruse Dr. Jeffrey Wilhelm's book: Action Strategies for Deepening Comprehension.
2. Meet and confer with your drama teacher or friends for ideas or to discuss & brainstorm.
3. Try it! The students will really like it and it does deepen their comprehension. Lively discussions and insights usually follow.
I would also like to say that I almost always allow the students to pick the portion of the book that they wish to present. This helps ensure that they have an invested interest in the process and that they do the assigned reading so they know which section they want to select. Once a section is gone, they need to choose their second or third choice. This helps in the selection process because the best sections usually are chosen and the students begin work promptly. Again, a caveat, wander amongst the students constantly to assure that they are on task and not having any problems.
