    Sue,

Your idea sounds wonderful where you are combining the reading
of the novel with research. I am going to be very interested in
your findings. How do you keep students on track? Are the other
students in the group able to help that reluctant reader? Do they have to
write a research report? What are the criteria? Do they develop the rubric
    or do you?

Denee developed a great research project in conjunction with THE PIGMAN.
Each student has to write a paper on a subject he/she is an expert on then
create a quiz for the class members to take. The class members should be
able to ace the test because of the content of the research paper. Students
    really enjoy sharing their expertise.

    Thanks,
    Jody
