I used to be concerned about taking class time for reading, but considering
the demands on kids' time now I feel quite justified in allowing 10 minutes
per day for my freshmen to engage in reading. They really like it and it
allows me to do the adminstrivia. Every 3 weeks there is some sort of
reporting procedure. I have a variety of activities which I ask them to do.
It varies each time.
