I also took an idea from broadcast #1 where Ashby Reid had her students respond to significant quotes from the novel. I used this with the novel Parallel Journeys (Holocaust novel alternating chapters between an Auschwitz survivor and a Hitler Youth member). I had students write their responses to their choice of 6 quotes from a list of 20. Then the next day, in a circle, students responded to the entire list. We used a ball as Ashby did so only the student with the ball could talk. This was a great way to discuss significant quotes and themes from the novel.
