I have completed the first installation of the In Search of the Novel distance learning course and have found the discussions and student interaction very exciting and inspiring. I am very interested in talking with others that have used some of these techniques to engage students in their readings. Do you find that the techniques shared such as the posing of questions using the Socratic method, or the dramatization of parts of the novel, or the student-led teaching of a chapter in a book can be used successfully with lower level readers? I understand that the reading material will be a significant factor in how engaged a reader can become. Would enjoy some feedback from others who have been successful with engaging techniques for lower level readers. Thanks!
