Teacher-TalkInquiry is the
email discussion list for Learning Science Through Inquiry.
Participants in the workshops, content guides, and Channel staff will
participate in this discussion list throughout the broadcast of the workshop
series.
Use this space as
an area to share information and pose questions about the workshop series,
get to know your colleagues, as well as ask questions about technical and
access issues.

I picked up a checklist from a workshop regarding things to observe about
children as they are working. It fit perfectly with the assessment video.
Here are the items listed on the checklist:
1. Shows curiosity about the topic
2. Gives reasoning for predictions
3. Predictions get more accurate over time
4. Follows activity steps
5. Uses standard and non-standard measuring tools to gather information
6. Uses detail in writing and/ or drawing
7. Writing, drawing, and/or discussion shows grasp of science vocabulary
8. Exchanges information with others
9. Works cooperatively with others
10. Shows understanding of key concepts
You can use these items as one means of gathering information about a
child's progress. You can either check the items or code them as follows:
+ = doing well
- = needs improvement
n/o = not observed at this time
