I am in the same group as Dotti. We are in Maryland. The way I am seeing the inquiry is to modify the methods. This means, loosening up my traditional setting and allowing the students to manipulate the materials and "talk out" the design of an investigation and then conduct the activity. With the need to cover so much material, the process piece seems to be time consuming. But if this starts at a younger age, it may get easier to let the kids be in an openended situation.
We were talking in our group that it is nice seeing the classes like they are but what about how they were like in the beginning before this open ended atmosphere. What are the steps the teachers went through with the kids to get them at this advanced level?
