[Teacher-talkhswriters] (no subject)
MaryLou and I did another lesson from the workshop (forgot which #). We cut up a paragraph per sentence and had the students recreate the paragraph in sequence. Some of our writers who struggle with order also struggled a little with the assignment, but in the end everybody seemed to get the point and enjoyed it. We talked about why order when writing is important, and how directions would become juggled if not in the correct order.
I also just finished lesson 8 and am excitied about using the computer more in the GED class. I often assign homework on the compter for math and grammer (funbrain.com and freerice.com). Using it more in the classroom just makes sense. Like everyone else, we are limited in the number of computers available, but can see dividing up into groups at certain times to use them. I also use a spellchecker poem to help students practice word processing. The link is http://latech.edu/tech/liberal-arts/geography/courses/spellchecker.htm.
