The Beginnings books are good places to get stories for students to read. And those stories may be inspirational for your students and prompt them to write stories of their own. Hi. We have been off again this week, so we haven’t been able to delve in much. We really only had 2 or 3 class sessions about poetry. We did, however, discuss the meaning of the words “diverged” and “jocund.” I hope to do more next week.
I thought I would try the activity in which you deconstruct an essay, but I want to do it on the sentence level, cutting apart a paragraph.
Has anyone tried reading any other books with their classes? I have access to short versions of Huck Finn and Red Badge of Courage and The Jungle Book. What do others do to obtain books? Doo you download and copy?
In the past, I have read “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” and then we have written similar stories. Sometimes we change them to Wonderful, Excellent, Very Good Days.
Time is drawing short, people want to test, and I totally agree that there is so much to do and so little time in which to do it.
