Hi Everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself and see if there was anyone else getting email
on this list. My name is Jared Bloom and I am a NYS certified teacher of
English 7-12 and 10th grade leader at FK Lane HS in New York City. This year
I created and implemented an online/offline course called Project Odyssey.
The classes are held in school and have a dedicated teacher in the classroom
to help them with their work and to provide mini-lessons; however, each
student has a laptop computer hooked up with wireless internet, online
literature and WebCT for discussions, chat and class work submissions. Much
of my time outside of school is spent teaching professional development
training classes in the use of technology in the English classroom. In
addition, I have been part of a teacher study group for the past 2 years
that meets at one of our old professor's houses on the water. It is a great
experience and hope that it continues for a long time to come. It is with
these teachers that I am able to try out new ideas and learn some great
teaching strategies.

If anyone is interested in discussing the various workshops in this series,
please feel free to email me directly or on the list. Thanks.
