Teaching Geography: Workshop 2
Guatemala Slide Show
These photographs were taken by famed landscape and science photographer
Eadweard Muybridge during his visit to Guatemala in 1876. They provide
a look at life much as it appeared in colonial times and reflect the
use of Maya Indian labor on nineteenth-century coffee plantations. There are seventeen slides. As
you move through the show, try to answer the questions asked in the text.
Also ask yourself: How have things changed? How
have they stayed the same?
