[Channel-talklit3to5] Looking At Literature
Hello fellow classmates!
I have watched the first two videos so far and have been really impressed by
the teachers that I saw and the kinds of questions that they are asking
their students about the books they are reading. I am learning a lot of new
ideas to incorporate into my classroom once I am back teaching again. I
taught third grade for 4 years and I was wondering if there were any other
third grade teachers out there. What books do you like to read to your
students for read alouds? Any good titles that you can suggest? I
recommend Hundred Dresses because it deals with the issue of teasing. I
think it sparks great discussions and I usually read it in the beginning of
the year to set the tone for the school year on respecting others. I can
also recommend The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe because it is such a
fascinating adventure and gets kids talking about sibling relationships,
positive and negative influences and the consequences that follow making
good or bad choices. What can you suggest? I look forward to hearing from
you!
Sincerely,
Susan Gerbrandt
