ENERGY STAR is a program sponsored by the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It
works to increase consumer energy awareness, and make available
more energy-efficient technologies. By investing in these technologies,
consumers can reduce their energy consumption, save money, and
lessen the environmental impact of our energy usage.
A new energy-efficient refrigerator uses about half as much energy
as a 10-year-old model. Replacing the older model with a more
efficient one will save $25 to $50 each year in electricity costs.
