[Teacher-talkeconomics] economic incentives

One thing that dawned on me when I watched this lesson was the fact that
non-profit incentives are very rarely talked about in economic classes (or
at least the ones I took). The only example of a non-profit incentive I can
think of is time. The one student in this session mentions that she felt
bad about the killing tigers. She does also mention that she held back for
more money, but that was after she mentioned an emotional incentive to
stop. I think that this aspect of economics should be talked about. People
do tend to act in predictable ways, but there are other variables that
could affect the outcome of a given event. I am not saying that they should
be the focus of the course, but I think it is important to mention other
non-profit/time incentives to help students understand how complex
situations really are. It also can serve as a teachable moment that
situations are not always black and white and there is not always an easy
answer.
