Reading
In preparation for the workshop, you may want to read the poems
"Icarus" by Stephen Spender, "Icarus" by Edward Field, "To a
Friend Whose Work Has Come to Triumph" by Anne Sexton, "Landscape
with the Fall of Icarus" by William Carlos Williams, and the
first chapter of the novel The House on Mango Street
by Sandra Cisneros. All texts can be found in the anthology,
Literature: An Introduction to Reading and Writing, 5th
