[Channel-talklitconversations] Response Workshop 8

I agree with many of the comments made by the
presenters. I strongly feel that making the reading
and writing connection is crucial to learning.
Discussing reading materials in class promotes a
clearer understanding, especially when students are
able to share their ideas in a non-threatening manner.
During the discussions students need to learn to argue
their points freely, and be able to back them up with
facts.

I love what the quote about teachers needing to find
books that are able to get the students attention and
grab their hearts. The only way students will enjoy
reading and understand the material is when they can
relate to the material, and visualize what they are
reading.

>From this workshop I have developed many new ideas for
activities, methods, and reading materials that
I plan to use for my classes. I have really enjoyed
the videos in this series. I have developed a clearer
understanding about how people learn literature. I now
have created some "New Bones" about teaching
literature in my English classes.
