Francisco Jiménez

Francisco Jiménez recounts his memories of growing up as a migrant worker in California and shares how his childhood experience shapes his writing. He discusses his book, The Circuit, an autobiographical account of his young childhood. He remembers how difficult it was to learn English and go to school because his family was always moving to follow the crops. Jiménez believes that stories can bring very different people together. "Once we tell our stories and listen to each other's stories," he says, "we begin to see ourselves reflected in each other's eyes."
