The
National Geography Standards
The
National Geography Standards for this program include
standards 4, 6, and 11. You may read in-depth descriptions
of specific standards by clicking on the links below.
All of the standards are available here.
Standard
4: The physical and human characteristics of
places.
Standard
6: How culture and experience influence people's
perceptions of places and regions.
Standard
11: The patterns and networks of economic interdependence
on Earth's surface.
Liverpool:
A Tale of Two Cities shows Liverpool to be a community
poised for economic revival. Its interdependence with
the world's economy and growing technology service sector
are both factors affecting this change. The second case
study, Randstad: Preserving the Green Heart,
explains how the protests of the residents of the "green
heart" reflect their relationship to and identification
with rural places as they face the possibility of increased
development.
