The
National Geography Standards
The
National Geography Standards for this program include
standards 6, 9, and 14. You may read in-depth descriptions
of specific standards by clicking on the links below.
All of the standards are available here.
Standard
6: How culture and experience influence peoples'
perceptions of places and regions.
Standard 9:
The characteristics, distribution, and migration
of human populations on Earth's surface.
Standard 14:
How human actions modify the physical environment.
Egypt:
Gift of the Nile examines Egypt's limited natural
resources, focusing on that nation's dependence on the
Nile River. It includes an examination of the pressures
on the Nile watershed in light of an increasing urban
population, as well as government response to this issue.
The second case study, Oman: Looking Beyond Oil,
examines how perceptions of resource reserves and the
policy of Omanization are changing this country's once
traditional culture.
