The National Geography Standards

Standard 6: How culture and experience influence peoples' perceptions of places and regions.

Standard 9: The characteristics, distribution, and migration of human populations on Earth's surface.

Standard 11: The patterns and networks of economic interdependence on Earth's surface.

Guangdong: Globalization in the Pearl River Delta explores the impact of rapid social and economic change as well as international investment in China's Guangdong Province. In the second case study, Taiwan: High-Tech Tiger, the video program explores the cultural connections of Taiwanese Chinese doing business in Mainland China, and the spatial dimension of an "Interface" region connecting Taiwan, China, and U.S. high technology interests.
