Eagles are fierce hunters. The female Northern Bald eagle is larger than the male. They average 10 to 14 pounds. Males generally weigh 8 to 10 1/2 pounds. The difference allows the pair to hunt different size prey. The bald eagle stands 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall with a 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 foot wingspan. Their sharp eyesight is 8 times more powerful than a humans. The bright yellow feet of adults are strong and equipped with long, sharp, and black talons for catching prey.
