News: Observing Change
Tulip Test gardens are planted in a wide range of climates. While springtime weather arrives in some school yards, others continue to wait out winter-like conditions. Keep an eye on the maps to learn more about climate and weather in all the Test garden locations.

Flat Rock, North Carolina
"Students in the Upward Garden Club measured the tulips. The height range was 2 to 5 inches. The average height was 3.5 inches." 03/24/14

Lapeer, Michigan
"Two different tulips have just poked out of the garden. They are approximately 1/2 inch above the woodchips." 03/24/14

West Hartford, Connecticut
"We returned from vacation and our tulips have emerged - they are just under 2 inches! When we left on March 8th, they were covered with snow. Welcome spring!" 03/22/14

St. Louis, Missouri
"Our tulips emerged on Friday, March 21st. The temperature was in the 70s. We were worried that our tulips would not emerge because St. Louis had a record cold winter." 03/21/14
