Blooming in Alaska!
While the Red Emperor tulip bulbs aren't emerging, there are some success stories. Tulips are up and starting to bloom in garden plots with warmer microclimates at the Botanical Gardens in Anchorage.

"Test Garden bulbs were planted in a bed that underwent construction after planting. We had no snow cover early in winter. The Red Emperors may not make it," wrote Patrick Ryan from the Alaska Bontanic Garden. "We are still watching and hoping. Spring weather has delayed plant growth as much as 2-3 weeks this year." 06/05/13
