Robin Home Page Robins for Kids

Babies in the Bush!

These babies are not alone!

  • Mom and dad keep a close eye as the babies wander around for three weeks.

  • When mom sits on a new batch of eggs, dad takes over. He feeds the kids and teaches them lessons: How to hide behind a bush, what not to be scared of (lawnmowers next door), and the best place to find food (a cherry tree).

  • At night, dad and the babies all gather on a branch to sleep together (called roosting).

  • So when you see a robin baby on the ground, leave it alone and let mom and dad do their jobs!
