The Equinox

Day and night are the same length (12 hours) everywhere on Earth on the equinox (except at the poles). The equinox occurs at the unique time each spring and fall when earth is not tilted toward or away from the sun.


The bottom image shows the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the beginning of spring in the Southern Hemisphere.
