Migration Observation Methods
Count
Monarchs at a Nectar Source
Monarchs
must find nectar along their migration route all the way to Mexico. You
can study migration where monarchs can find good nectar.
Where
to find monarchs:
- in your
own butterfly garden;
- along
the roadsides;
- in an
abandoned field;
- in a
farmer's blooming clover or alfalfa field;
- in a
native prairie or other wild place;
Try
to:
- Count
monarchs at the same time of day and for the same
length of time each day. This way you can measure how the migration
changes in a scientific way.
