Satellite Map Gives Clues

This satellite image shows the Eastern United States in April. (The state borders were put in.) No, the red dots aren't hummingbirds; they're fires! But something here does give us a clue about the Ruby-throated hummingbird migration.

  1. Look closely at the image. Compare it to today's migration map.
  2. Journal Questions:
    What similarities do you notice?
    What does this "tell" you about hummingbird migration?
    What does it say about hummingbirds' basic needs?
