Rufous Hummingbirds Gone Astray? Making Sense of Unusual Sightings In the winter of 2008, observers in the Eastern U.S. reported something that might seem strange: rufous hummers hanging around! January 19: "We've had two short-lived snow storms here in Gainesville, Georgia the past few days," said one observer. "But nothing my rufous hummingbird couldn't withstand.
