Tracking the Hummingbird Migration
When Ruby-throated Hummingbirds return to nest in the United States and Canada this spring, they will have just completed a remarkable journey to Mexico and Central America and back! In the Western U.S. and Canada, the Rufous Hummingbird travels the farthest north of any hummingbird to breed—all the way to Alaska.
You can plot this return trip and learn what it takes for these—and other species of "neotropical" migrants—to successfully complete this epic journey.
