Lots of Calves!
The parade of moms with babies is getting into full swing! From the official census at Pt. Piedras Blancas, CA, Wayne Perryman reported a big day on April 17, with 20 cow/calf pairs in a very busy week! On April 21, Gray Whales Count tallied seven cow/calf pairs in less than 2.5 hours of counting before the fog rolled in and hid the whales. "It is too bad because we know whales are going by and we won't be able to count them." Check out our data page to see calf counts climb at our two point count sites!
