April 12: Just wanted to let everyone know that we saw about 30 gray whales off Narrow Cape on Saturday. About 20 were definitely migrating and the other 10 were milling around at the mouth of Ugak Bay, Pasagshak Point area and might have been our residents. Only adults were sighted, no calves. The gray whales are definitely here! - Stacy Studebaker

April 8: FOUR gray whales — the first this spring — were spotted and identified by Andy Finke on the north end of Long Island! Many grays were reported seen off Pashagshak Point to Surger's Beach near Narrow Cape. They're back! In more exciting news from April 8: a RARE and exciting event happened when two humpback whales were seen in the channel!

Other kinds of whales are creating a lot of excitement as well. Orcas, known here as the Kodiak Killers, return every year, and have been here since early March.

It's perfect timing for Kodiak's Whalefest!
