How Can YOU Help Whales?

Gray Whales (and many other Great Whales) were almost wiped off the Earth by whaling between the 1800s and the mid-1900s. Then whaling stopped, thanks to people's conservation efforts and new substitutions for whale oil and whale bone. Gray Whales recovered enough to be taken off the endangered species list in 1994. Mrs. Black and her second graders at Rama Public School in Ontario, Canada wanted to help whales too. Here's what they said:

I can help by

... using less water. Alanna
... reducing, reusing and recycling. Eric
... making new stuff out of old stuff. Jason C.
... reusing everything I can. Denver
... not polluting the water. Samuel
... not dumping chemicals. Dustyn
... not polluting with oil. Madison
... reusing oil. Roarke
... picking up garbage. Mathew
... not polluting. Justin
... recycling. Kristopher
... telling people to buy cars that don't use as much gas. Rachel
... recycling and reusing stuff like plastic. Mitchell
... not letting chlorine leak into the water. Christian
... not dumping garbage in lakes. Jason P.
... trying not to pollute as much. Sara
... telling people not to burn their leaves. Brodie
... cleaning up the neighbourhood. Brayden
