First in Summer, First in Winter! The “Lobstick” Whooping cranes are quite well known. When summer aerial whooping crane surveys are conducted in Canada, the Lobsticks are the first cranes discovered. In winter, they are usually the first ones that people see from the Whooping crane tour boats as they reach the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge on the Texas Gulf Coast.
