Watching Walking Whoopers

The whooping crane scientists:
  • Observed the natural world and asked questions.

  • Thought about what they already knew.

  • Came up with a guess or theory about what they observed.

  • Set up an investigation to test their theory.

  • Carefully gathered data.

  • Looked for patterns in data.

  • Used the data and what they already knew to draw conclusions that explain what they'd observed.

  • Asked new questions.

  • Realized that science is never finished; there are always new questions!
