* The peak population for the Aransas-Wood Buffalo flock in the 2005-2006 winter was 190 + 30 = 220. One adult and 5 juveniles died at Aransas after arriving from Canada in the fall of 2005.

**Estimate, since not all whooping cranes in Florida can be located on a regular basis.

***23 of these chicks were hatched at captive breeding centers in 2005 and led by ultralights to Florida (19 chicks) OR released to fly with older cranes (4 chicks) OR newly hatched from Eastern flock parents (2 chicks) in spring 2006.
