*One
chick separated from its parents in migration south and wintered
in Matagrorda County, TX. One chick died at Aransas, so the
peak population for the 2004-2005 winter was 217.
**Estimate,
since not all whooping cranes in Florida can be located on a regular
basis. Five juveniles were shipped from ICF to
Florida on December 8, 2004.
***These
chicks were hatched at captive breeding centers and led by ultralights
to Florida (23) OR released into the wild solo (1).
