No Go. Blame the Weather (+0 Miles)
December 30, 2009: Migration Day 68

Just as predicted, a weather system moved into the area. It brought south wind and rain, which means no flying. Today will be another Down Day in Franklin County, Alabama. The weather rules this human-led migration. While we wait, you can watch the cranes on Operation Migration's CraneCam. It is live each day from about 6:30 to 10:00 a.m. and again from 3:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon.

In the Classroom

  • (a) Find the state where the cranes are on the weather map above. What color do you see? What type of weather does this mean?
  • (b-for-Bonus) Based on the map above, what type of weather do you predict for the team's location tomorrow? Do you think it will be a fly day or a no-fly day? What will cause the weather change?

Journey North is pleased to feature this educational adventure presented in cooperation with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP).
