Chris in his TrikeCam and LOOK DOWN!
Photo captured from Operation
Migration TrikeCam Nov. 5, 8:22 a.m.CST
to Illinois! Above is a view from the TrikeCam mounted on Chris's
aircraft. Do you see the birds following the ultralight below? Wa-HOO!
With a great tailwind, all 20 crossed into Illinois behind Richard
and Brooke. They landed at about 9:20 in Winnebago County, Illinois.
(Those birds looked PROUD
as they strutted on the grass landing strip!)
next stop is LaSalle County, Illinois. A great celebration will
be held after the birds
land there. It marks Operation Migration's 10,000th mile
flown in efforts to restore this endangered
species to its former range in eastern North America.

the next stopover.)
Journal Questions: (a)
As you watch this departure video
(click on photo below), why does the trike wait? Why
do you think "Swamp Monster" appears at
the end? What's
your favorite part?
Why do you hear another
plane approach at the end of the video clip?
do the chase planes wait to take off until
the lead pilot and the birds are airborne?
Try to think of two reasons.
