No Go. Is it the Green County Curse?
Today's weather was " iffy," so Joe did a test flight at 7:30 AM. His plane used the new strut-braced wing that has been loaned for a test. This wing has no king post or top wires that have always been hazards to the birds. The other pilots waited by their planes, helmets under their arms. Then "It's a no go" crackles through the radio. They'd hoped the wind would push them south, but it was doing the opposite. They must wait another day and hope for favorable winds.
Each year the team has spent DAYS in the grip of Green County's weather or winds. They joke about it as the Green County curse. Do you think it's happening again this year? (See History, below.)
Hear Joe talk about headwinds in our audio clip as the team stays put in Green County, WI.
