American Redstart
This insect-eating migrant arrives when food become available on its northern breeding grounds. The bristly feathers at the sides of its mouth that may help funnel insects caught on the wing. His coloring is a clue to his age. Males don't assume the black-and-orange plumage until late in their second summer, after breeding season.
