Female Rubythroats
Journey North hummingbird Expert, Lanny Chambers reported his first female rubythroat in Fenton, Missouri the end of April. He waited 2 weeks from his first male sighting to see his first female. Males usually arrive at your feeder first because they migrate before females in a race to find their breeding territory. "This time of year, most of the hummingbirds anyone sees are passing through; it's the nature of migration," shared the Expert. 04/29/13
